All About Measuring and Learning From A Coach
In my previous post, I’ve discussed the first 3 out of 5 principles to succeed in life and business, Especially a Home Based Business. I want to continue this here with the other two. Here goes:
3. Your Approach to Life
Jim Rohn says: “it’s not what happens to you, it’s what you do about it because the sun came down on all of us in this Southern or Northern Hemisphere yesterday. It didn’t provide light to a single soul and covered in darkness all the others, so what are you going to do about it. I’ll give you an example from Grant Cardone. Grant says about producing: “God made the world in 6 days and took the seventh day off. I know people who take 2 days off, (Saturday and Sunday) and haven’t produced anything all week”. He also gives another relevant example when he talks about the recession in 2008, the terrible recession that hit the entire world. Grant says that up until then he did everything right. He developed his businesses, he put the money in the bank, bought some property, he was in debt and all of a sudden all the banks went bankrupt and his money went down together with them. A global event that affected all of us. It wasn’t his fault, he did nothing wrong, but he paid the price like everybody else.
What are you going to do? who are you going to cry to? It happened. Accept it. The faster you accepted the better, because if you gonna go – ‘Oh my god, look what they’ve done to me’ it’s not going to work. And don’t get me wrong, I’m guilty of complaining a fair bit, but I catch myself every time and I set myself right.
The key is to set yourself to success. Practice becoming better and better every day. Practice conditioning yourself for success and eventually, you’ll achieve success.

4. Be A Student
I go back to quote Jim Rohn. Jim says: ‘don’t be a follower be a student. Listen to me, I’m a speaker, listen to other speakers, and decide what’s good for you. What do you take from each one if at all”
I’ve read Napoleon Hill’s book Think And Grow Rich a number of times, I’ve also got the audiobook on my phone that allows me to listen to it every day when I drive, I don’t take everything there on face value I don’t follow blindly I sieve out what is a little bit weird for me that I don’t want to use, and I know in the book it says don’t skip any part and I don’t really skip any part but not everything is suitable for today. This book was written in the beginning of the 20th century, and we’re in the 21st century. Things change, approaches change and you have got to adopt, so be a student, study what’s being said and decide if it suits you or not
When I say ‘be a student’ I refer to getting a coach. Get a coach that will coach you through success and help you with what you want to achieve.
There are endless public speakers online on the tube and you can listen to them those whole programs out there I’ve followed many I’ve listened to many, as I mentioned before Bob Proctor, Stephen Covey, Brian Tracy, Kurek Ashley, Grant Cardone, Tony Robbins, Jim Rohn. All great speakers that you should study and listen to what they have to say and apply their ideas.
This is like taking a coach that tells you how things can be done. It’s all about listening to the person who really succeeded and do the same. If you don’t have access by any chance to the Internet you can go to your local library. The library in your town is more than likely have free access, and if they do charge, they charge very little. All the books are in these libraries.
I live in New Zealand I’m in Auckland, anywhere in New Zealand you have free access to the libraries, you can get a library membership card its free as well, that allows you to take a book for up to 3 weeks at a time which is enough time to read a book, and if you didn’t finish reading it you can ask for an extension, you can stay in the library and don’t have a card and read everything in the library. (so much encouragement to be successful!)
Those books and there are fiction books and trash magazines etc in these libraries, but there are also success books in these libraries that teach you step by step how to succeed in business, how to lose weight, how to manage your time, how to do it all.
It’s all about self-development and if you go there and learn you can start in applying the methods taught in these books and be successful.
Tony Robbins tells a story about a homeless in the US somewhere. And it was in the cold months of the winter when he used to go into the local library during the day to take shelter from the cold. So what are you going to do all day when you’re in a library? You start to read books. This man started reading books that interested him, and he got all these success books and study them, changed his mind, changed his perception about life and now he’s a very successful business owner.
This works all the time, so go to the library and read the books, and if you don’t want to read them listen to YouTube videos. There are guys like me that give you free snippets of success like this one, but you have to listen and apply.
The information is there so there is no excuse, and it’s all about setting your mind to success. So be a student.
Measure what you do, measure your success. If you set yourself a goal and you set yourself steps to follow on the way to achieve this goal, then measure yourself.
Here are 4 questions to ask yourself to measure your success:
- Did you achieve what you wanted? Did you achieve your goal?
- Did the methods you have applied to it worked?
- How long did it take you to get to your goal?
- How many people listened?
These days, every social media platform has tools to measure your success. Every post you put on your website give you very precise measuring tools to check who read it and what action they took after.
If we will look at an offline way of advertising, for example, a street banner. You go down the road and you see this big massive banner saying: ‘Join our bank’ for example. It’s just a banner, it’s a sign, a big massive sign that is just sitting there in the middle of town and nobody is measuring its success. There aren’t any tools to measure how many eyeballs hit the sign, further beyond that is how much information was actually respected in their brain of the eyeballs that looked at the sign. In other words, how many people actually took notice, and further, how many people took action by calling the bank to become their client. Right?
There are no tools to measure it and believe me when you go to the bank to open a new account I believe most of them don’t ask you – ‘oh by the way, where did you hear about us?’ and if they do, you probably won’t remember if it was online or somehow offline. So it’s not measurable.
However, on the Internet, everything is measured. When you start a Home Based Business. An Online Home Based Business, everything you do online today is measured. If put a post on Facebook people like it then you know people like that you put a post on Facebook or Instagram or Twitter. Anywhere on the Internet, you know how many people actually took action on what you post, and a view is a form of action because it shows a level of interest.
So you know because it tells you. There are metrics to tell you. On your website, there’s this tool called Google analytics which analyzes what’s going on in the back office of your website. It tells you how many people reached every single piece of information you advertise on the website. It tells you which country are they from,
There are softwares to shorten links. Bit.ly, for example, is a platform that allows you to post any URL that you copied from the Internet, and you put it on Bit.ly and it provides you with a short link. When you post this Bitly link anywhere on social media, every time somebody clicks on the link to visit the page you have advertised, Bitly tells you which platform they came from, which social media platform they came from, is it Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and so on. Did they come from the Internet? sometimes it’ll say unknown which means somebody else posted via email maybe and other means. It tells you which country they’re from, and how many clicks from each country. It’s very precise.
So now you know the traffic to everything you post, and it’s the same with success. Measure every step on the way, did you succeed? yes? no? if you didn’t succeed then analyze what happened, be your own analytics, and if you need to, then change approach, try it from another angle and again and again but don’t try until the end of days. If it doesn’t work then you may actually bark the wrong tree.
This is it about measuring and for this first blog post. There are 4 more to come over 29 steps to succeed with your online business. I’m going to post it on video and you’ve got the transcription below. Any questions you have, any comments please post them below. I’m going to put it on social media platforms as well please comment and like and share it with your friends so that they can access this content as well.
Thanks very much, I’ll see you next time bye bye
